Computer hangs at shutdown screen

dawafflemonstah

Hi! I've OC'd my 6700k to 4,5GHz, and now my pc has started to hang when windows is shutting down. The problem occurs after having used the pc for a while. Especially after somewhat intensive use, e.g.  gaming. The problem is solved by doing a manual reset, and then turning the pc off again, then it shuts down just fine.

It doesn't freeze, it just "keeps on shutting down". If I don't reset it manually, it will reset itself, and I can then turn it off normally.

Is this something I simply have to put up with if i want my pc OC'd, or can it be fixed?

Running Win7 64bit

Appreciate all help, thanks! :)

Sounds strange, but have you ever tried doing 'shutdown /s' in CMD?

Very, very strange. I've ran into my own skew of problems after overlocking my 1100t. One of which being I can no longer use 'sleep mode' on my PC, or i'll suffer strange CPU hangs and spikes (and massive frame drops :(

I wish you the best of luck finding out what's wrong.
