I was planning to use these fans http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Series-AF120-Edition-Airflow/dp/B00F6S10KK and the 2 fans that come with the case in my system.

Do I need a fan splitter? like this?

Your motherboard can handle 3 case fans + 1 cpu fan. So a splitter is needed for 4 fans.

i personally wouldn't be connecting 2 fans to 1 fan header on the MOBO. Dat power draw

hey guys, I have a qyestion: what is the purpose of a fan splitter? the fan header only works for one pwm fan, so if you connect two it wouldn't work.

you can always connect directly to psu. am I missing something?

Fan headers can support more than 1 fan. Usually 2 is max, SOMETIMES 3 (2 is safe)

Both fans can be controlled off the same header.

from what I can see in pictures your mobo has 5 fan headers.

I really don't know about that, because for example the fan controlling interface(I use ai suteII)"sees" the fan headers from the mobo and controls them. if in chassis fan1 for example there are two fans connected I'm not sure what will the interface get. if you tried it and works that would be very interesting

if both fans are the same and they are plugged in (ie in my case I have 2 NFF12 intakes and 2 NFA14 in push pull on a rad)... One set of fans are plugged into one header to control at the same speed for both. The other set are on another header to control at the same speed for both. So i guess in a way you are limited in that sense, but still the fans are controlled

nice! it's a really good solution then and I will try it some time!
