You would be able to overclock on that motherboard. We aren't able to tell you how high you can go as every chip is different. Just stay under 1.35V for the chip and you'll be fine c:

First off, am I able to overclock on a msi z97 pc mate? I'm looking forward into overclocking this cpu, and I'm not sure what the numbers I should run this thing at, with a hyper 212 evo inside of an nzxt s340 for air flow. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

You can overclock on that mobo.

We can't give you exacts on overclocking but one of the most common overclocks on it seems to be 4.5GHz.
