True, but I think linuxs' problems are that the CLI is cryptic and does not seem logical. Some of this stems from the fact that all this stuff was invented way back when ram was expensive and stupid abbreviations and arbitrary symbols were the norm to save memory.

I find it fairly easy to learn actually. it makes a lot of sense once you get used to it. Not to mention that you could always use aliases if you really think a certain command doesn't make sense. IIRC it even comes with a couple of DOS commands set as aliases (such as DIR).

The abbreviations still exist for quick access, really, and in some terminals you could even use tab for auto-complete

That's for anything OS related, once you start getting into, for example, configuring a server using dhcpd or apache (httpd) you start to run into some very long commands, which can get confusing at times.

But the commands for installing packages are all fairly simple, both with YUM or apt-get, and those are probably the ones a regular user comes across, if they see the terminal at all.

I personally prefer Ubuntu bc that's what I use when I dabble in Linux. I'm not sure about Unity, I kinda like GNOME.
