Which CPU should i get

Go to solution Solved by kirashi,

I am able to get either an athlon x4 860k Black edition or an a8-7600, they are priced the same, and i want to know which would be the better cpu to get for a lower end gaming/document pc build, from my own research they are pretty much neck and neck, but if someone has actual experience woking with both i would like to know the best of the two.

I have dedicated graphics for this build, all i need now is a cpu, the rest is already here or on its way.

thanks in advanced for any helpful advice, any changes might be considered but i have ~$75 to spend on a cpu for an FM2+ mobo, only real requirement is over 2.2GHz, and atleast 4 cores.

Athlon X4 860K

Correct me of I'm wrong but the 860k is a a10-7870k without the integrated GPU so it will be better

I would say the Athlon x4 860k since you already have a dedicated gpu, it has a higher clock speed, it can be overclocked if your into that sorta thing, and its cheaper.

Having been an AMD advocate and user for the past 10 years (only just recently building a system with Intel) I can confirm all of this. If you didn't have dedicated graphics, an A8 or A10 APU (CPU+GPU) would be best. Because you have a dedicated GPU, go with the Athlon X4 860K.

I currently run an Athlon X4 620 (a far cry below the 860K) but have loved its' performance and overclockability compared to its' price for the past 5 years. Slap on a liquid cooler or an CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo and overclock the poop out of that thing.
