Question about capture device

I was not entirely sure where to post this and thought this sub-forum would be best. I had been considered an avermedia capture card recently in order to better record gameplay. I problem I realized I have is that my main monitor, a QNIX 2710 uses only D-DVI. Most capture devices utilize HDMI as a pass through. Does anyone have any experience with this or know of a hardware solution similar? I've considered sticking to OBS but wanted to see what options were around. Thank you

Define better gameplay recording?  Most if not all capture cards for gaming have an embedded H.264 encoder (Not super great quality but ShadowPlay is better) and many are locked to 30fps.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

I thought shadowplay only works for NVidia. I am currently running an R9 290

AMD have their Game DVR in their Raptr software (haven't used since 2 years ago, might have improved).
