Which r9 390x?

Go to solution Solved by Kinda Bottlenecked,

What Zackfoo said.

More Msi cards are consistently hitting 1200mhz. Probably helps that the boost clock is already 1100mhz. Which is the highest amongst all 390x, as high as the water cooled 390x from powercolor and higher than the Lightning/Vapor-X.

Even though the the 390x from Sapphire has a 8+8 pin power delivery. The overclocking result are not inline.

For overclocking:

Msi

XFX

Sapphire

PowerColor/Club 3D/Asus

Gigabyte

For Cooling:

Sapphire

PowerColor/Club 3D

Msi

XFX

Asus

Gigabyte

Thanks for that help! :)
Just one more question: are there waterblocks for that card? And if are they all compatible with the waterblock?

Reference cards have full cover waterblock available. (PowerColor PCS+, XFX (Only specific revs), Probably Club3D (since its just a rebaged PCS+ and Asus DCII)

Msi and Sapphire cards only have semi cover waterblocks.

As the title endicats i would like to know which r9 390x is the best?? In the rating pls include I/O / Performance / Cooling / software features

Thanks for reading this and I would love your support picking this card! :D

Honestly I think the STRIX 390X or the NITRO 390X are your best bet.

strix is one of the worst please dont recommend that to anyone else sapphire is good.

luke did a review on it the strix 390x and it is bad.

Sapphire is top tier for Radeon graphics cards.

Vapor-X is their best offering, with their Tri-X being close, and slightly cheaper.

MSI/sapphire will be your best bet. Both of them offers enough of io. Msi is the best oc among all of them sapphire has a mediocre oc performance. Msi have a better vram cooling sapphire has a better core cooling. Software features is from amd and the oc features can be used with any brand like msi afterburner.

but quite bad for oc not like msi. averagely sapphire can reach to 1135 but msi can be 1175 generally. All these result is proven from overclock.net 390/390x club where i am one of them. so ya, sapphire is not the top tier but it is still a very good card.

The strix card is too hot though, reaches 86-87 degrees.

Neither of them bin their chips. So they have the same chance.

Wow, much fps gain from such a minuscule difference in core clock speed overclocking capabilities. Sapphire's cooling solutions remain the best. And it's down to luck, how far they can OC their chips.

Not everyone that buys a 390x and OC's it will go onto Overclock.net and post their results.

just another point to be consider. I myself hate that my card cnt oc well. And i believe there are a lot of them same as me too. It is not about the final result is about the process of having fun at oc-ing your card. Guess you dont do that or you don't love doing that then.

Well nope, sapphire vram cooling is around 7 degree celcius hotter than msi. So ya, not really. Sapphire has the best cooling was the vapor x which not yet exist for 300 series. Well since there are quite a lot of them and that is the general conclusion we made so i just post here so that OP know. I don't see anything wrong about it.

40 isn't enough. That is a coincidence, at best.

40 case of coincidence. Ain't that wayy to much for being coincident too?

You really think your alleged 40mhz overclock difference is really that big of a deal? Just because a small group of people are posting their results on a forum, does NOT mean that their results speak for every other card made.

The fact is, Sapphire cards have THE best cooling solution compared to the competition. Also, overclock results vary for everyone.

Nope. Alphacool has the block while ek don't have. Ek only support reference design the one that is same with 290 series. Asus dcuii is supported too.
