I built my first computer today and the process was surprisely smooth. I was able to build the computer and successfully install the cpu, ram, motherboard, cooler, psu, dvd burner, and ssd. I was then able to power on and even install Windows 10 and that is when I noticed the GPU light was not on and the computer could not recognize that it was installed. I put the GPU (Evga 980 TI Hybrid) in until it clicked into place, and then skrewed it in and plugged in the power for GPU. I know there is power going through it because the cooler that is connected to the GPU is working fine and the monitor which is hooked up to the GPU works fine as well. I tried reinstalling the power cables twice and moving the gpu to another location south on the motherboard and it still did not work. I will just freak if I did something to damage a beast of this caliber as I do not know if i can afford a new one. Thank you for your input.

So is the computer running with on-board graphics? Do you have another computer to test the graphics card with?

X99 does not have integrated graphics

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

Wouldn't you need to have the gpu plugged in so you could see the screen to install windows? Not getting your question because if your gpu displays stuff then that means windows recognizes your gpu and now you need Nvidia drivers

What is the best way on Windows 10 to test out if a graphics card is up and running correctly?

I don't think you understand what @afyeung is saying.

He's saying if you can see windows 10 on your monitor then the gpu is running.

Now all you need to do is install nvidia drivers or what ever disc came with the card.

Oh, I see, I understand what you guys are saying. I guess I thought because the gpu didn't light up like the cooler, I assumed it was broken. I put in the disk and the computer and the files are downloading. To you guys, the solution was obvious, to me being a first build and all, I guess I brain cramped. It seems to be working, thank you for the help guys, I really appreciate it!

on the flipside, i wished i can disable the light on mine. i have a palit 980ti whose LED is always on. Geforce experience lists the card as not compatible with LED visualizer.

anyways i will ignore the marginal white light bleeding from my mesh case from the GFX card and cooler. I never understand why you younguns like pasting LED strips everywhere and having see through panels. I mean, dont you focus on the monitors instead of the desktop itself when you game?

Solder off the LED if you don't want it. If you want a different color LED, buy that color LED and solder that on.

naw, wrecking the warranty of a thousand dollar card isnt worth the cosmetic difference when its hidden behind a panel. If it annoys me that much, i suppose i can just paste electrician's tape over it.

You're right, but us young lad like to have matching build. My mind go crazy when the color isn't matching, it makes me mad.

We invest in our systems, why hide our gorgeous components?  Plus, I like controllable LEDs in my case, helps me keep an eye on any potential liquid cooling leaks.

Even then.. NZXT Hue adjusts to your systems temp.  You could set the temps 0-30c, Green, 30-40c yellowish, 40+ red.  Why not.

That's nice but too flashy that it's a distraction. I rather have it pulsate a certain color (im sure there's a option to do that)

Definitely is.  It's overflowing with options, down to adjusting each and every individual LEDs color.

i suppose checking for leaks does have a good reason to have a window. there is no accounting for tastes with regards to the lighting some put in their components. I invest quite a bit on my bike, but i dont see the need to paste brand stickers on my bike. Bridgestone, Petronas, Hyperpro, EBC, they dont sponsor me, so i see no need to put their brands on my bike. I dont get why some people like pasting those brands on theirs.

Might be a sign im getting too old to appreciate all the bling. :|

What does attractive, personal ambient lighting have to do with plastering brands on your products? These are totally unrelated. You can't compare the two.

I think your Advil PM is kicking in.
