HELP! CPU FOR SALVAGE

Go to solution Solved by ApolloX75,

Guys question someone just gave me their old PC for Free and Here what i can salvage

CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200

MOBO - Acer EG43M

I have this in my Previous CPU

RAM - Samsung PC3-10700 2GB

GPU - NVIDEA GeForce 6200 TurboCache

i was planning in upgrading RAM GPU and HDD to SSD.

But can someone explain to me this?

Memory 1GB / 2GB DDR3 1333/1066/800 Un-buffered Non-ECC DIMM support

Support single channel 64 bit mode with maximum memory size up to 8GB

Support un-buffered DIMM (Intel ICH10R)

DIMM Slot: 4

Memory Max: 1GB to 8GB DDR2 memory technologies

This was in the Acer Support Manual.

and what GPU Should i Pair it with? any Suggestion?

Ehhh I wouldn't go crazy for it but it's a decent chip at least. The g43 motherboard is nothing to write home about.

Maybe pair an r7 260X or maybe an r9 270x but I wouldn't do more than a 280/380 or gtx 960 at the absolute most.

As for the motherboard manual it's just telling you that the board can handle up to a 8Gb max of DDR3 at a speed of 1333MHz. And it will do it either with 4 2Gb sticks, 2 4Gb sticks or one 8Gb stick. You can put 1833MHz DDR3 in there if you want, the bios will clock it down to 1333MHz automatically.

And the "1GB to 8GB DDR2" bit is likely a misprint.
