Total noob question :O

I have a modem and a router but i just bought another Modem+router its a combo* for gaming do i need to connect to the original modem to make this modem+router work or what? oh btw my new gaming computer does not have a disk port soo i need to use the older one? and configure the modem+router first then connect the modem+router to my gaming pc using ethernet :OOO

modem/router combos are usually utter complete crap and are supplied by the ISP. How ever if you want to use this, plug it into where the original modem was. IMO return it, keep the current modem and go get a ~$75 decent router.

so decided to return it and get....a router? but i already have a router how does it work? i live in the second floor and the modem is 1st floor how do i connect it?
