either the BIOS mod is wonky or your CPU is prob a dud

Its not a bios mod but a physical modification of the motherboard, and it could be the CPU as my X5450 smashes my QX6850.

Title says it all. Buddy of mine bought x5450 to upgrade his CPU ( old cpu was q6600 ), but performance is shit, altough all cores are working, there is no throttling whatsoever. any ideas?

MB: P5Q-EM with latest bios and updated microcode.

PSU: something from be quiet, 500w

Cooler: Be quiet shadow rock 2

See the frequency and fsb in bios. Maybe reset bios( my e8400 was at 2.4 ghz, the bios had the settings for my old cpu- e6300)

This isn't the issue.

Can you expand on, "Performance is shit" ? Performance in what? It's an 8 year old quad core chip (no HT) at 3 GHz. I wouldn't expect it to perform miracles.

It's slower than other CPU'S of LGA 775 socket, even with an overclock. In cinebench q6600@3Ghz is on par with x5450@3.8Ghz.

Did they screw up the board mod? Only thing I can think of off hand.

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
