So newegg has http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487136 which is $299.99 + a free game. Would this be a good over the r9 390 at this price point? 1080p gaming only.

What is your option for the R9 390?

Between $30-$60 more without a free game. I mean at 1080p they are close enough so I am thinking that difference in price is worth it.

Then go for it. The R9 390 has a minor performance bump over the GTX 970, and with the free game, its worth it.

You should get this one: It's a bit more powerful than a 390.

I had an r9 290x but it ran super hot. How does this thing run?

Cool. It's Sapphire Tri-X, shouldn't go over 75-78 degrees under full load.

Idk. I am just doing 1080p gaming. Seems like overkill for that.

It costs 20$ more than a 970 and is better, you should get that one ^^ It'll last for longer even if it's a bit too much for 1080p right now
