usb drive question

I dont know where to post this but i had this idea after seeing www.youtube.com/watch?v=dougISKs2vQ and was wondering if that would work with or without the raid setup for my games. i have a bunch of extra usb drives doing nothing atm and was thinking it would prolly be faster then using my hdd atm and cheaper then switching everything to ssds.
