Just had an offer, to swop my thinkpad for another laptop. I'm mainly interested in it because its an i7, however, its a 3rd ULV cpu. While mine is broadwell.

I use my laptop currently to digitally paint and draw, and while it has 4GB soldered on I never had an issues with it really. As I use the desktop to do Zbrush and any Photoshop for

heavy lifting.

Now my laptop has an i3 5005u while his is  i7 3517u. Now I checked the charts and it doesn't seem significantly better am I correct in that assumption?.

The i3 has 2 cores and 4 threads as the i7 has and the i3 runs at 2.0GHz and the i7 at 1.9 boosts at 3 -_- and the i3 is newer i would say stick with your current one if you don't need more ram.

Considering it has i7 features  and higher clock like hyperthreading it should be better, but if you are looking for a significant improvement look for a quad skylake like the i7 6300HQ/MQ or i7 6700MQ/HQ/HK.

Thank you, at the moment all the quad CPUs are heavy laptops, the Yoga is a portable machine I use for work and use as a digital sketchpad. So I say it isn't worth getting as the performance bump seems minimal. Am I correct in this?

Then wait for skylake ULVs.
