Ok here is the deal I got a new job and I will be traveling a lot from state to state but i still want to be able to play my games and enjoy a dual monitor setup while i am at it but everytime i throw a build together i end up putting a whole lot of extra shiney parts. so I need yalls help what do i really need to ren a dual monitor trave gameing computer? I should also mention i am wanting it to be a I7-6700K build.

1. Budget & Location
My Budget is between 1000 - 2000 USD

2. Aim
I play Eve Online with multiple accounts as well as Fallout (preordered FALLOUT 4!!!) and a few other games but am wanting to expand my gaming library. I do some mild Streaming to Twitch and a little video editing of the gameplay i record while playing.

3. Monitors
I would like to run 2 (27 inch) monitors at a decent price but still good quility

4. Peripherals
I will need a keybaord and the OS I have a mouse already.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I need a more portable gamming rig than the bahmoth tower i have currently as well as i would like to make a skylake I7 build

I will need the monitors as well i was thinking 27 Inch monitors as I travel but Driving my Truck not a small car or anything like that. but i would verymuch like the Computer itself to be smaller and more portable.

(Since you want a skylake, you have to go with the newer socket motherboard and DDR4 ram, so that is kinda fixed)
But I have some more questions: 1. Are the monitors included in the budget and if yes, which ones? 2. Which form factor do you prefer?

It´s small but sadly has no 6700k in it ;(

I would like the monitors to be included but if not i can Allocate $500 to them. I dont know much about monitors to be honest I know i was told that Display port was the way to go so there is that and I would like to come home and plug the setup iin and add a third later down the road for home. but not a current priority.

Any thoughts about this?

Ok, soo I´ve managed to put something together for you. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/moritzswaggorn/saved/mZZTwP

This is just a rough start plan and I´m going to explain every part for (hopeful) discussion with more experienced small-PC builders. So here ya go:

1. Case

I´ve chosen the BitFenix one because a friend of mine has this one and is very satisfied with it. The problem here will be the handles / feet as they are kinda wobbly and tend to brake when not secured properly. A friend of my friend (always good to have friends for opinions lol) had this case too and he did brake the handles of because it was thrown around in his car, but all the parts survived - which is the point of the whole thing (protection).

2. Mainboard

This choice was simple as there are not a lot of ITX mainboards with a skylake chipset and socket, so the thing is kinda expensive because of this. Also  it does not have USB 3.1 but yeah... Although it does support (and has according to reviews a good bios for) overclocking (for the 6700K).

3. CPU

You said $2000 and skylake - I said 6700K.

4. RAM

You need DDR4 and I think 16GB (2x8) is the way to go since the board has just 2 RAM slots. Maybe you will actually need some low profile stuff (depends on cooler).

5. GPU

I´ve chosen the 980 TI as it just fits in your budget. The problem here will be that the case doesn´t support full length GPUs with drive cages inserted, so you´ll have to take those out in order to fit it in and thus you´ll have to just throw the storage devices somewhere else, but this doesn´t matter since we have an:

6. SSD

Good performance and resistance to shocks and stuff. When you want a normal HDD too I would take that thing out and put it in a steadier place since you have no drive cages.

7. Cooler

A good perfoming low-profile cooler, since the skylake does not produce that much heat. But my friend did somehow squeeze a Noctua NH-D14 (gigantic cooler) in there I think, sooo you can probably go with a more standard cooler.

8. PSU

Not really sure about that tho :D

OP, I pretty much agree with what @Moritz is saying. I was half thinking to recommend a 2.5" HDD for mass storage of games, but then I remembered that it's going to be a portable PC, so an SSD is definitely the way to go. Although, I would be wary of how many games you install.

The PSU you picked is a quality one - if it fits in the budget, I would consider the 650 G2 instead, it's a slightly better model with the OEM as Superflower.

I would also consider a blower style cooler on the graphics card as an open card design will significantly raise the temps in the case, especially when you consider how small it is. Having used my Titan X with a blower style cooler (it's now using an ACX 2.0, which is fucking awesome), the noise and temps weren't actually all that bad, so it's something worth considering.

That's my two cents - have fun building. :)
