so i was looking at buying some audio stuff and i had a look around and so that the profx16v2 had a USB port at the back that you could plug into your computer so i got to wondering if this would work with things like skype, obs, teamspeak and in game voice chat

It should be. It's basically a very expensive sound card.

Yes it will. However, it will be a pain in the ass to set up, and it's seriously not worth it unless you're actually producing music. My high school had one very similar to this, but again, you will not be using even 1/10th of what it's built for.

If you want to be able to live mix the relative volume of skype/whatever to your game volume, there are better options available, and no, I'm not talking about the ASTRO Mixamp.
