Hopefully you guys can understand that Diagram, but I'm not sure how this can work

I plan to have a separate network for the server, but need 2 ethernet cables running to my pc, one from my server network and one from my main network

Will this technique work or is there anything else I need to do/fix?

If you have questions about the diagram plz ask; im confused AF xD

I plan to aggregate the network from the home server to the netgear switch, will that work to give all the devices connected to the server network a good speed?

You'll need a managed switch with VLAN capabilities IIRC. I'm not completely sure, but take a look on Google at VLANS. I don't usually work with them since my SRW2024 switch only supports IE6. (Fuck you Linksys!)

Yup. This is how I feel every time I talk about networking. It's super complicated IMO. a VLAN is like another router for a set of PC from one single switch. If you have 24 ports you can set 1-12 to VLAN 1 and then 13-24 to VLAN2 and it will act like two separate networks and they can't access each other. IIRC. Check out /r/homenetworking /r/networking and also /r/homelab on Reddit. /r/homelab is especially helpful and I love to hang around there.

EDIT:

I also recommend that you buy a used switch. Something newish, with good support. I hear Netgear/Linksys are good, but make sure it's still got some support and no issues with the web interface etc. Also, you may want a serial cable with a serial to USB adapter. (Sorry, Linksys WebView makes me sad cause they only support IE6 with the SRW2024. Like who the fuck only supports IE, let alone version 6, the 32bit one?!?) Sorry for the mini rant lol.

Most importantly, what are you trying to achieve here?  Why have 2 routers together, and the Netgear serves no purpose.  Switch One could just be 1 decent managed switch with VLAN set up so that the home server, PC and router will all be on separate networks but on the same switch.

yes, what are you trying to achieve? If this is a home server, a solid gigabit ethernet network will suffice. there is not really any need for link agg in a home environment

ESXi SysAdmin

I have more cores/threads than you...and I use them all

I need 2 routers because my room is on a powerline adapter, so a TON of latency and really bad speeds sometimes. The netgear is needed for link agg and connecting all my laptops, the first switch is only a 3 port switch.

So the first router is in a room about 20ft away, which is why I need another in my room

I saw Linus' old nxic video for network aggregation and media streaming. The server is designed to handle video editing, photo editing, run smooth vm's and be a media/storage server in general. So i think link agg would help considering everything I want to do is really high bandwidth requiring

Then throw the first switch away and get a decent Gigabit switch.  Team 2 ports for for server, set as VLAN 1.  VLAN 2 set as home/desktop network + internet access to WiFI router.  No idea why you need it so complicated :P

So in yours will the server be running on it's own separate network?

Yes, VLAN = Virtual LAN.  From 1 switch you can separate ports out to act like a separate network.  This does require some networking knowledge though, depending on what brand switch you get.

erhmagad this is so damn complicated lol, but i'll definitely do it because a server has been needed in our house for a long time ;D
