Photo Editing Display

So anyone have a recommendation for a lower-end display for photo editing. My mother's been an amateur photographer for years now but over the last year she's starting doing more professional work. Her work load is increasing pretty quickly so she's looking to improve her rig for editing. What would be a could display for this purpose?

Right now the budget would be between $250 and $500. I'm not sure how much she's looking to spend so I'm kind of guessing there. That's why the large gap between low and high amounts. Any suggestions would be great because I have no idea.
