Stealth Gaming Rig

TheKMANDO

Hey guys, I'm planning on building a new gaming pc however I'm pretty noob with this stuff so I thought I would get some help from you folk :) Any and all help would be awesome and is really appreciated!

--

1. Location: Sydney, Australia / Budget: ~700 AUD (Max $750)

2. I play competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but I also want to stream in the future (When Sydney decides to get decent internet :S ).

3. I have a BenQ XL2420T and am planning to run a secondary monitor to watch movies on (preferably 30" IPS LCD)

4. I have all peripherals covered :D

5. I run an average (but old) setup atm. It's time for an upgrade!

--

I have already chosen some parts that I would like to use. If I could get some advice on the compatibility of the components, advice on maybe better parts and general tips in ways I can increase the performance to price ratio.

CPU: AMD FX-8320

Motherboard: AsRock 970 Extreme3

GPU: Gigabyte HD7870 OC

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB

Power Supply: Antec VP650P (650W) (Already own)

Chassis: Bitfenix Shinobi Mid Tower

Storage: 128GB OCZ Vertex SSD + WD 1TB HDD (Already own)

Links included are the retailers I intend to buy from. If you are local and know of a better place to buy from, please suggest! :D

EDIT: By stealth I mean a low profile, not flashy computer.

What is the benefit of the 760 or the 7950?

I play mostly cs, but i dabble in other games. Although in other games I'm more than happy to play at minimum settings to get a smooth experience. Drives I'm also covered for :) (updating OP).

Well a 760 or a 7950 would obviously give you more performance, however source games, like counter strike, could run on a potato. So you really don't even need something like a 7870. However if you play other games that are more demanding it might be a good idea to invest in a better GPU, such as a 760 or waiting to see what the 9000 series brings to the table.

Come on you gotta sell me here. What is the difference between the 6300 series and the 8300 series?

The 6300 is less powerfull but not noticible and the more powerfull GPU will give you more performance.

Either FX 6300 and FX 8300 are bad for playing games anyway so :)

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

FX-8320 + HD7870 = ~$460

FX-6300 + HD7950 = ~$478

So i see these as valid 'swappables'. Is the FX-6300 perfectly capable for running games without any hassle?

The FX6300 is a good all rounder happy medium CPU that will perform whilst keeping lower wattage usage and cooler. it is a 95W CPU where as the others like the 8320 is 125W.

if you don't mind the power usage and extra heat then go for the 8 core, but if you want to save a little and have a cooler and quieter more engergy efficient CPU go for a FX6300 (or go for intel haswel if you can afford it) but for $700 budget i think you have to go for a happy medium system.

I run a FX6300 and 2X Asus 7790 with 2 gig of ram in Crossfire and it runs the modern games and does my 3D drawing work etc.

do you want suggestions of a full list of components making up, what is the main PC components sellers in Aussie?

got to love Asus components

Well this is cheap as i dare go, originally wanted to add the Sabertooth m/board but it would have been over the bedget, and same with graphics card had to go for a cheaper one but later on you can get another and Sli it.

so thats with NO cooler, no drives, no PSU etc just the things you requested.
