Custom Fan Curve - G1 GTX 970

Nasty

Can anyone recommend a custom fan curve for my G1 GTX 970... In my opinion its running pretty hot compared to others I've read. I'm currently downloading a 3DMark to test it, What is a safe temperature for it. Any help is appreciated.

Fan curve depends entirely on you. How much noise you can handle vs how hot you are willing to run your card. Fool around the afterburner until you find something you like. As far as temps go, I wouldn't run it above 78-80 for too long. Technically those are safe temps but it's always better to be cautious.

Ok I just ran 3DMark and got a score of 8731, And in that time it got to 71 celcius. As I have been reading lots of people(overclocked) have been stable around 65 celcius. Just seems a bit high for a G1. Also that thing where only 1 fan or 3 spin at a time depending on the game... mine are always running even @ idle, is that correct?

85c even for longer periods of times is perfectly fine.  At 100% fan speeds I don't think I've ever reached near that even with Furmark.  Fan curves are all personal, just adjust it to how much noise you can take.  I usually set mine to go to 100% at around 80c and a gentle curve downwards to about 35-40c.  I use a custom BIOS so I have 0-fan as well, so my fan only starts up at around 45c or so.

Your temperature really isn't that high, I would just set a curve that performs well without making too much noise. With my EVGA 980ti, using a custom curve and not the BIOS fan settings dropped my temps by about 10C and I don't even hear it.

My G1 runs pretty hot too and it doesn't overclock very well at all either. Was playing tomb raider yesterday and it was hitting around 60C at stock speeds with a 25C ambient temp, not to mention the fans were really loud too, even setup a custom fan curve and it seems to just completely ignore it. Not sure what gigabyte has done to the G1 line but it seems older G1 cards were a lot better.

My G1 completely ignored the custom fan curve as well.. Atleast in MSI afterburner it did. I downloaded EVGA Precison X and it runs better I beleive.
