Nvidia vs AMD

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

390 with the beefiest cooler you can find...make sure you get at least an i5-4460 CPU or better though.

...and at least a good quality 600W PSU minimum.

Also, if you want gameworks features in games or physX, or VXGI, texture compression, shadow play, gamestream or MFAA...get the nvidia GPU.

The AMD is around 4% faster and has more memory, but it consume more energy and won't support any of these modern rendering techniques and features that maxwell does...so it's a trade off you must be willing to make to get a few more FPS here and there, it's up to you!

i agree, it's nothing definitive and i hope i didnt sounded like it was...but it's something to consider i was the proud owner of a 3dfx GPU when they sold out to nvidia and it was a big let down for me so now i do consider this as a possibility for AMD...and guess what: nvidia provided absolutely ZERO support what so ever for past 3dFX cards and same goes for game developers...Glide was if it has never existed and if you want new drivers buddy good luck here we have some user created super non-stable drivers for you to try. anyways...like i said, just something to consider.

BUT, also about how long it might take for them to go under...i would assume they will AT LEAST launch a rebrand of the Fury and FuryX in the R9 4XX series with HBM2.0 they will at least want to get some return on investment on this and rebranding them one time is the way to at least get some of the money they sunk on this back...so yeah at least 2 or 3 more years i would see them last and if Zen turn out to be good and priced competitive maybe longer than that.

I also agree, just because they are going low in stocks don't mean their r9 390 will suddenly get 10 less FPS...

Even if they are gonna go bankrupt, someone will buy them out and continue what they started but I honestly doubt that with their new ZEN lineup coming out soon.
