Bluetooth Issues. Help!

So I have one of these:

 

(a PS3 controller)

 

 

 

 

And I currently have it connected to by PC using this:

But I want to connect the controller to the PC using this:

But I cant for the life of me get the controller and bluetooth adapter to talk to each other. Any ideas?
