If you're not satisfied with the WD Live players (You didn't specifically say what was wrong with yours or what it doesn't do that you need), then I HIGHLY recommend the Roku players:

Roku 3 (I believe this is the newest model)

The USB port is on the opposite side of the little fabric tag (Like you find on clothing). You'll need to download a special Roku app to get full support:

http://www.solveyourtech.com/how-to-access-a-usb-drive-on-the-roku-3/

Other alternatives include an HTPC of some sort (Raspberry Pi, Intel NUC, or traditional custom built HTPC). The downside to these is larger space (Less so for the first 2 options), and less smooth Remote Control interaction. Upside to a full HTPC solution is much better flexibility and power.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

iPhone Xr 128 GB Product Red - HP Spectre x360 13" (i5 - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD) - HP ZBook 15v G5 15" (i7-8850H - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA Quadro P600)

You might also want to consider the Google chrome cast as its cheap $35 and it just acts like a HDMI dongle with youtube support etc. It has built in wifi and you can stream any webpage to it from chrome. but the thing is it doesn't have a usb and I dont think it directly suppports network steams. though if you can play the video on chrome it can work that way.
