R9 290 Crossfire Ideal Setup w/ my MOBO

I currently have a XFX 290 DD and I'm looking to get another 290 or 390 to crossfire it with. However, with my MOBO I will have to run it in the very next slot down which means the top card will be right next to the back of the bottom card. Should I get a reference card or is there a good aftermarket card that's more ideal for this less than ideal spacing?

 

Also, I am well acquainted with the 290 reference cooler as I had a one before I RMA'ed it (it was a used miner and XFX was cool enough to still RMA it) and got my non-ref 290 I have now.

 

Please inform me GPU wizards. Are there any news articles about this in particular that I should read?

AMD reference coolers suck. Don't go anywhere near them.

Aftermarket cooler starved for air is still better than reference card starved for air.

Here's my setup if it helps you decide, I never have any trouble with it overheating, rarely see either of them go over 65 degrees. Both 290s

I would focus on putting a bottom intake to feed the crossfire set up in that Define R4.

I do have a 140mm in the bottom as an intake currently. I could crank it up when I play games or render.
