Mic Boom Arm

TheKDub

I'm trying to find a decent boom arm for my AT2020USB so I don't have to use the little tripod type stand that came with it, I'd like for it to be black, and sturdy enough that it will support the mic for quite some time.

Currently I'm looking at these two:

NEEWER Mic boom arm

http://www.amazon.com/NEEWER-Microphone-Suspension-Scissor-Stand/dp/B00DY1F2CS/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1446006518&sr=1-1&keywords=Mic+boom+arm

Ohuhu Mic boom arm

http://www.amazon.com/Ohuhu-Microphone-Suspension-Scissor-Stand/dp/B011NJRM48/ref=sr_1_13?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1446006530&sr=1-13&keywords=Mic+boom+arm&refinements=p_72%3A1248939011%2Cp_36%3A1253545011

It looks like the ohuhu might be slightly better with the clamping type as it uses a more "solid" metal, whereas the neewer uses some crappy somewhat easy to break sort of metal.

Anyone have either of these? if so, would you recommend it? and why?

I'm sure some of you will suggest getting this: http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446006866&sr=8-1&keywords=rode+boom+arm I'd love to get it, the only thing is it's really damn expensive, and I can't afford it atm... (Maybe some time down the road, I just need something to hold me over for maybe a year or so)

the weight of the neewer one is almost identical to the ohuhu so I think its probably just the colour of the metal, not the quality

it also has way more reviews, but a slightly greater negative %

Yeah, but someone posted a picture of where the clamp on their neewer broke, it was some cheap shitty metal used for it, but the ohuhu seems to have a solid metal clamp, perhaps just a bent piece of solid steel instead..

I'm using the Neewer one right now, holds up my fairly heavy C01U with no problems. Would recommend! :)

probably because they tightened it too much?

Probably.

To me basically the only differences between these two are the clamp and the slight difference in colour and price..

On a scale of 1-10, how sturdy would you say the clamp is? (That's pretty much the deciding factor for me between the two, as other than that, they're essentially the same lol)

I got one of these... http://www.thomann.de/gb/superlux_ms_200.htm

Its a bit too big imho, Ive had it for about 3 years and its still as good as the day i got it.

It holds my mic which is quite heavy easily at over 1 metre from the rise.

They do do some desktop ones too maybe worth checking out,  http://www.thomann.de/gb/microphone_stands.html

A little knowledge is very dangerous

I went ahead and got the ohuhu stand because of the higher quality clamp, other than that, it should essentailly be identical to the other one I had listed.

This is a GOOD arm.

More expensive, but very nicely made.

I found those other arms to be cheaply made compared to this.

If I were to get up into that sort of price range, I might as well just get the rode stand that I had in my post. (http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446006866&sr=8-1&keywords=rode+boom+arm)
