Hey guys,

Recently my microphone on my headset has broken. I desperately need a new one. I have a rather low budget. I was looking for a ModMic, but recently the massdrop ended (just before my mic broke) and the NZ suppliers take ages to ship and charge far too much. I have been looking around and here is the only seperate mic I found that I might be interested in:

https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Audio-Technica-ATR3350-Omnidirectional-Condenser-Boundary-Microphone/22993674

It seems to have very positive reviews and would let me either continue to use my current headset or to use my main music listening headphones. I was also just wanting to double check whether it would work if I plugged it directly into the standard mic jack in my Mobo.

Then I saw that on the same website they were also selling headsets at a good price. The one that really caught my eye was the hyper-x cloud core headset.

Its probably my favorite headset of the ones I was able to find.

Coming in at a slightly lower price is a Logitech headset.

I barely know anything about it.

Then I saw the Razer Kraken pro at the same price as the Cloud, and I was like "LOL" so I put it here just so we can all mock it.

I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. I'm just looking for ok to good mic performance for my money by Friday (NZ) so I can flame people over comms on csgo!

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok. Thanks for the reply. Ive done a bit more research and that looks like what it comes down to: Pay more now, get the core before friday, get a whole headset with an OK mic OR get the lavalier mic for slightly cheaper, get it much later, get a MUCH better mic. Not really too much of a competition. Oh well.

I have hpyer x cloud which is same headset as core but it just comes with more bling and more stuff like a carrying bad/extended wire/airplane adapter/second pair of replacement earpad.

Yeah, I dont need all that extra bling as my currently broken headset came with that jazz, but that said I found a method I can use for free. I have an old voice recorder with a headphone out (AUX), all I need to do is hook it up to my PC and hit record. It actually works as a pretty decent microphone.

Hyperx Cloud2 i got mine from playtech.

1: Playtech = Overpriced.

2: Cloud II = Overpriced.

3: Cloud I = Almost exactly the same as Cloud II.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

NOTE TO ANYONE WANTING TO BUY THE Audio-Technica MIC:

YOU CANNOT PLUG IT DIRECTLY INTO THE COMPUTER.

It needs phantom power! This can be provided by: A preamp, A voice recorder (like the one I am using) by plugging the mic into the mic in on the voice recorder and headphone out into your computers line in (like I am doing without the mic) hit record and the sound from your mic should come through. This only applies if you were wanting to plug it directly into your line-in socket. If you wanted to plug it into your camera you should be fine.
