Building PC noob help

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

I am about to build my pc but I don't have an anti-static strap but I know I have to ground my self by leaving an powered but plugged in power supply and touch it but I don't know where to touch it and how often and what to do when trying to install the actual power supply as I can't ground my self to that while installing it.

-Thanks for responding to this probably dumb question that will truly help me in the fun hours that await me.

Just touch the metal casing of the PSU every time you step away from your work table or get out of the chair, usually every few mins is a good idea if your not moving around.

So what will happen if I accidentally break a part, could I potentially  RMA it or do something if I may or may not have been the reason for the breaking on accident

It's not very common I see something break from static but on the rare case of that happens or it coming as a DOA part you can RMA it.
