Is the asus g53/g73 still good these days?

...Specifically for me- I'd be using it to record Minecraft/Terraria/Starbound/etc and playing portal/civ5/Don't Starve/etc. Also using it for graphical work mostly in inkscape, some video editing (720p), and audio stuff. Running everything on linux, I have hated windows since I started computering.

 

Currently I have a sony vaio with an i7 740qm&1.7+  gt330m. My guess is that an i7 2630M@2.0 + GTX560M would be one hell of an upgrade, but I'm not so knowledgeable about laptops.
