You could try this Build-Off contest page.  They were all designed as strictly gaming builds.  You can leave off the peripherals and add the price of your OS (or use Linux...).  Anyways, that might get you headed in the right direction.

The pentium is a fine CPU for budget gaming don't freak out about, the motherboard is just to hold everything, the GPU is probably the best at that price range you could skimp on some stuff but I wouldn't.

8gb of ram is future proof pretty much for a gaming build, 500GB hard drive to hold everything, Cooler master psu to power it and a pretty Fractal Case to keep it all in.

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1p5Th

This is pretty tight on the budget with the OS. Also getting tired to seeing micro atx mobos in mid atx cases recommended.

I would just go 40$ over and get this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1tA1n

The budget is being killed if you don't count the rebates. Rebates are something you can't always guarantee to work. Also, you went back to more expensive ram. I picked some cheaper ones in the last link.

Oh wow the price gap between 7850 and 70 is ridiculous, here's a revised build of my build:

The 6300 is considerably better than the 3220 for gaming.

I wouldn't go for a CM psu. --and you chose a more expensive gpu? o.O

(Also again with the rebates)

Yeah I kinda got stuck on intel when I chose the pentium, though it would be that budgt but nope. Haven't done an amd build with US pricing yet either.

Nothing wrong with cooler master power supplies.

I would go with your build for sure.

Coolermaster doesn't come out with the best psus. Something like the cx430 is highly preferred.
