I was always intrigued on how luke/linus would use the same drive for their test bench, they would always swap hardware and i believe they dont have the time to reinstall everything from scratch just to benchmark stuff. How can i make one of these? We all know that we cant just use the same drive for different boards because bsods would happen.

@badogski29 you probably want to follow your topic.

Its not actually that simple. It requires a lot of safe mode boots and driver installs.

Basically you connect the drive from a different system. Try to boot. Computer blue screens because its for the wrong system. On reboot you can select safe mode, which selects generic basic drivers that are slow but your computer will actually boot. Then windows detects the appropriate hardware and installs and switches to the appropriate drivers. Then you can (sometimes) boot. it doesn't always work. When benchmarking they often use the same rig with different CPU's or GPU's meaning they're not having to change system devices all the time.

They use the same motherboard and just exchange out the surrounding components.  And to be completely fair, the machine is probably operating at about 90-95% because of the constant swapping of hardware and additional registry entries.

Please, don't do this for a normal machine.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!
