So i found a motherboard and CPU combo on eBay with a Xeon W3550 in it. Would it be worth it?

Probably not. Look at the TDP on that CPU; 130w, yikes!

 

Not sure of the specifics of that mobo, but you might be forced to use ECC ram. Not a bad thing if you needed the ECC RAM to begin with, but terribly pricey if you didn't.
