Picking a new phone?

Hello Guys!

 

Currently I have a ZTE Zmax (T-mobile) and I am planning to sell the phone so I can move back to my family plan on Verizon.

 

I am considering the Asus Zenfone and I can't pay more than roughly $200. That is not a firm-set price, but I will not be paying $600+

 

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you can use GSM unlocked phone, such as the Asus Zenfone, on Verizon.

Correct. It can work partially, like data and text, but no calling. Also sometimes activation doesn't work(at all).

 

I wouldn't buy a GSM/LTE phone for Verizon though, too risky. Just buy a phone from Vzw.

If you're going back to Verizon, why can't you simply purchase the new phone through the carrier for $50? Isn't that the entire point? Why buy a new phone outside of a carrier just to activate it with that carrier?

Thanks, I haven't followed mobile technology ever since the launch of the iPhone 5...which was back in 2013, so I am kinda rustic as f*ck, especially about US carrier.

That won't work as well as that's a gsm phone, not the CDMA that Verizon uses.

Not sure if this rebate is still going on, but last spring I bought a droid turbo at Costco and got a $100 costco card and $100 added to my Verizon account. I think the turbo is a $400 phone right now, but if this rebate still works, I think it's in your budget! Of course, it's assuming you shop at Costco and you don't mind rebates.
