Hi, i'm going to build a PC at the start of December, these are the parts i'm wanting.

http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/p/YkGG8d

I know the case is quite big, but I really like the way it looks.

i'm going to turn the 2 side fans so they're bring air in through the front, then have a h100 cpu cooler that will mount on the top with a fan on the back taking out hot air also. Should I add fans on the bottom as well or will they be enough?

Any criticism is helpful :) mainly going to be gaming, college work etc..

if i can cut off $100 somewhere i'm going to get a 980 ti instead of 980, don't want to go over $4k NZD

I know how to build a PC, but once i've installed the OS what tests and stuff should I run to check how everything is operating?

Thanks!

attatched image of how the fans will be

edit

Budget $4k NZD

Monitors: 2 at 1080p is fine for now, can upgrade in future

Aim: mainly gaming

peripherals: need mouse /keyboard / OS

Why did you pick that SSD over the one I had in my list?

IS there a big difference in performance? the one I found was 240gb and $50 cheaper :)

Kingston screwed their customers with a nand bait and switch with that very SSD

Crucial is a good and possibly cheaper alternative to Samsung

So don't get that SSD?

I wouldn't, even if they fixed the issue (which wasn't an issue, they just screwed people) they still deceived their customers with that exact product.

I'd check out Samsung and Crucial for an SSD first and foremost, Intel and SanDisk are alright too.

That drive is notoriously slow.  It's like a low capacity hard drive.

No, they just swapped out what made it fast and replaced it with cheaper shit that made it slow, and hoped nobody would notice.

Also, you only need an i7 CPU if you're doing a lot of music/video production stuff or streaming, otherwise i5 is just as good for gaming.

You also only need 8gb of RAM if you wanna save some cash somewhere.

i've watched a few reviews and stuff on them and the 6700k performed better i'm pretty sure

So don't get that SSD?

yeah it does but since you're just going to be gaming and doing collage work (no video editing or streaming i am assuming) the 4690k should be good enough for your needs but again you can get the skylake if you want

Ah alright.

Well i am doing computing and information @ college and sometimes we have to do projects that we have to do photo editing, video editing, and website building as well.

I wouldn't mind maybe do streaming some day if I got good enough at games I plan to play in the future
