Hey all!

I Have a old laptop that I wanna turn into a DVD player (I dont want to do anything else with it really) since its now old and slow.

So my question is what OS should I use and what shall I install on it to make this work as smoothly as possible? (I obviously want something that can be used without too much hassle and thats snappy)

your sincerely Natherul

Linux would be the best, but if it's already got an OS you may as well just keep it.

after much trouble I got XBMCuntu installed now, BUT it does not work at all since I seem to be lacking sound alltogether as well as no DVD playback... If i input a DVD I can find it in the list but just pressing enter puts me in the root file directory and right clicking it and pressing play makes the whole of XBMCuntu to freeze and become unresponsive...

anyone got any ideas on workarounds on these issues?

EDIT: I got it working but its kinda wobbley.... by logging out and login into XBMCbuntu instead of just XBMC and then starting XBMC and when inserting a DVD press eject/load 2 times below the now visible play button (was not in normal XBMC) it now works..... Sound worked immidiatly in XBMCbuntu, so it works but I have to jump through hoops to get there, anyone with any ideas on how to get rid of the hoops?

EDIT2: I got it all working now.... seems to have solved itself pretty much after I logged into a more normal linux desktop once... :P
