Please excuse my ignorance, I know absolutely nothing about audio.

I have a pair of AD700 which I adore however they are really quiet on most devices especially on my PC. At 100% volume they are not that bad but still a bit quiet for me. So I went fiddling around in the realtek sound manager and found that increasing all the frequencies on the equalizer as well as enabling loudness equalization actually boosted the sound considerably so its just right. My question is does this actually mess with how the audio sounds? Like I said I'm no expert on audio so its hard to tell but I can't really tell a difference (except that it's way louder) but a quick Google suggested that it does. Is there any other way to make my headphones louder on my PC other than touching the equalizer settings? It's really only an issue on my AD700 as my other headphones and speakers are loud enough.

Most likely. You're pushing the headphones beyond their expectation / design.

But then again, I don't know shit about audio either ;)
