hi so i have a old hard drive from a a dead laptop and I what to transfer windows to a flash drive so i have a safer place to keep it but is there a way to transfer windows to the flash drive with out it locking up and me haveing ti buy a new key for it

Just leave it on the HDD. Nothing is going to happen to it. Just store it in a safe space.

well i do have a sata to usb adapter is there a way i could use that and us it in a virtual machine so that i can update it to windows 10.i have never used a virtual machine befor so is there any free and e.z ones out there that will work
