Mine craft sever problems

I've been havering problems with my sever I watched a video and followed I get it done and the only problem is nobody can join but people on my router. I even looked at a port forwarding map and everything lined up but nobody ever can join. So I looked in then sever and oped it with note pad and changed the I.p. address several times from my I.p. to the one ip chicken Gave me and it it told my friends that the host was to far away someone please help this might be a noob error that I made and feel free to correct any. In tru facts or some thing spelt wrong

Did you make sure to make inbound and outbound exceptions on your antivirus and Windows OS firewall?

Also if you have a separate modem and router, make sure both have the appropriate ports forwarded as that can cause issues as it has for me in the past.
