Memory Speed Help

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

So does this mean my memory is running at 1866MHz? And do I still have to change my XMP mode in the BIOS?

No that just means it's capable of it and you do need to active XMP to use it

pretty much what Ryan says

you need to go to BIOS to start XMP

Today I downloaded cpu-z to check my systems specs in greater detail. When I got to the memory tab, it shows that my DRAM Frequency is hovering around 800MHz. From what I've read online, your supposed to double that speed, giving my memory 1600MHz speed. The problem im having is that I bought a 4gb ddr3 1866MHz stick of memory. Am I doing something wrong? Or was I shipped the wrong type of memory?

does the RAM in speccy shows the 1866 model?

if they are correct

you just need to adjust the RAM speed in BIOS

Yep, https://gyazo.com/0cfc068615ef272a3270d7bbc08b6bbd Hope that is enough, its my first time using gyazo.

hmm this software cant see the model

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

use CPU-Z ID

to check the RAM

or use

https://www.crucial.com/

download the scanner to scan the RAM being used

You might need to enable or change your XMP profile in the BIOS

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

No that just means it's capable of it and you do need to active XMP to use it

By default most motherboards will default to the "safest" speeds that are pretty much guaranteed to work, so you can at least POST and set it higher at your own discretion.

Went into BIOS this morning and swapped to XMP mode and this is what cpu-z says- https://gyazo.com/a717b52a2eb56bfd62556a65dc454ef6https://gyazo.com/8738c62825858b6eaa1d841d7454f3d5. So that was the problem, thanks for the help!

No problem.  I've learned from experience with this myself :)
