Torrent Box

Noyu
Go to solution Solved by Tycho,

you can configure this in utorrent, under preferences > transfer cap. enable this and choose 4GB every 1 days.

the laptop waking, sleeping can be done with windows scheduler http://www.howtogeek.com/119028/how-to-make-your-pc-wake-from-sleep-automatically/

same for going to sleep http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/30758/make-your-pc-shut-down-at-night-but-only-when-youre-not-using-it/

Good Day LTT, (not sure if I'm on the right sub)

So I'm trying to setup my laptop to be a "Torrent Box" when I'm at work.

Laptop Specs:

Dell XPS15 L502x

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

i5-2410m @ 2.30GHz

8GB RAM

nVidia GT525M

HDD1: Hitachi HTS545032B9A300 (ripped off from an older Acer laptop) - 320GB OS Drive

HDD2: Seagate ST9500420AS (stock HDD, but has alot of bad sectors due to abuse) - 500GB Torrent Drive

Here is the scenario

I work cities away from my primary residence. So instead of going on a daily commute, I live in the company dormitory during weekdays (Monday-Thursday)

Long story short, During weekdays, I leave my laptop on 24/7 at the house downloading torrents with a cap of 4GB per day.

What I want to happen:

laptop on -> download 4GB for the day -> sleep -> wakeup at 1AM -> download 4GB for the day -> rinse and repeat.

or instead of a transfer cap, a time-based download:

laptop on @1AM -> download till 4AM -> sleep -> rinse and repeat

I'm up for other suggestions though. Thanks in advance! :)

Karamo

already knew about the transfer cap for utorrent.

BUT, will it automatically "continue" downloads after waking up from sleep??

Sleep does not close the programs that are open, so as long as utorrent is running in the background it will not stop
