ATX vs ITX

ATX, ITX, Micro ITX, Micro ATX etc..

What is the difference? It confused me. Please someone explain.

They're just different motherboard form factors:

 

ATX boards have 7 slots vs 4 on mATX vs 1 or 2 on mITX. You won't find AM3+ or 2011 socket ITX boards.

ATX is basically standard size( 7 pci slots) MATX is shorter and I believe slightly narrower (4 pci slots) and Mitx is 1 pci slot only 2 dimms of RAM and is mean for very compact builds

There is/was but it never took of. But there are also Nano-ITX, Pico-ITX, and others ;)

The best formfactor imho is Mini-DTX, but there are only very few moterboards :(
