Need help on setting up second hard drive

melias24

Hey guys, so i am really struggling for storage in my PC. Anyway, i pulled an 80gb WD 800B EVS HDD out of an old Compaq (around 2009-2010 model) and after i delete everything off it and it's just a plain old hard drive, when i plug it into my PC will it automatically be detected or will i need to set it up?

Usally u will have to format it and assign it a drive letter through windows disk management for it to actually be able to store the data u want on it.

But idk about an already used HDD. Just plug it in and boot up.

You mean like a complete wipe? If so, then you should be able to connect it and format it. If it has an OS on it still, I'm not sure

Ok, well to wipe it i'll have to remove my current hard drive. Will it just automatically boot in?

just use the search bar and search for "format" you should see an option called "format hard disk and partitions" go there, find your disk and right click, format it :)
