External monitor recommendations

I am looking for a good external monitor, and was looking for recommendations and was wondering, could I use my  Gallaxy S2 as a monitor like

and how did he achieve this?

 

or could I use a  build like this

both would be cheaper than 7inch monitors and have higher resolutions so would this be possible? And what are some other alternatives that would be fine?

what's you budget for one? 

when asking on which you NLE shud use to edit video I will tell you to get avid and an mac. life is easy when it just works.

I'm giving the android smart phone thing a try It's done with a app called "dslr controller" and an OTG cable so for 11$ I have it working and with some velcro I have it mounted to my camera I'm kind of happy with it, but thanks, If I find that I cant adjust the smart phones hues to make it less blue, I'll look into that monitor.
