SATs

So because I never did SATs and a college I am applying for requires them, I have to do SATs. I will litteraly be the oldest person there. I haven't been in High School or studied that material in years. I just did a practice SAT I got 1400 is that good?

I remember correctly, 2400 was the highest score. 

I got 1900 at the time I took it, if my memory doesn't fail me.

a 1400 is a fairly average score. it might get you into low end colleges. But high school grades are also a factor. Usually they kinda weight each other. If say you got a perfect score on SATs (2400) and all C's in high school you can still get into some great colleges fairly easily. I would retake the SAT and aim for a higher score.

No, 1400 isn't particularly good. About average, I think. For reference, I got a 2030 and I'm pretty smart.

 

As for advice, I say you practice as many kinds of problems you can. There may be some SATs from previous years that you could use to get an idea on what's on the test, and practice whatever you can. I'm going to say practice again, just for good measure.

It could be out of 1600, since I remember that to get my honors diploma I had to get a 1200 or higher composite Math and Critical Reading score, but if he's taking a practice test with all three sections, it would probably give him a score out of 2400.

Ah, if that's the case. that's quite a good score! I suppose it's more or less equivalent to mine. You should be fine, then. I got into a reputable college pretty easily(Purdue University).

That is what is said on the site, This was a practice test. The real test is almost 2 months away.

It used to be out of 1600 but then they added the writing section bringining it up to 2400, but a lot of practice tests don't have the writing section.

Yea starting in march, but there are practice tests out of 1600 already.

It doesn't hurt to brush up on your skills. Another word of advice, if I recall, the actual SAT is harder than practice ones, so just bear that in mind.

Thank you! I'll sure feel weird being a professional that is nearly 4 years out of high-school in there! I could wait one year and not have to take them

I got a 1730 on my first and only time. Got a 1730 on the practice. Only difference was the real one was just longer.

 

Funny enough, most schools ask for SATs but they actually don't give as much of a shit as they say.

The that must be it. The hardest part of the SAT is the length and timing. You sit for pretty much 4 hours.

I can handle siting for 4 hours. I am worried I won't be good at it. I am out of practice for High School related topics.

My college didn't want the writing portion. They only cared about my score on the math and reading portion. This was 7 years ago though so who knows what's changed.
