Windows 10 Memory Running Out

insanet4co

I have just upgraded from windows 7 home premium 64-bit to windows 10 64-bit, and I have noticed that more RAM is in use than in windows 7. In windows 7, when I start the PC up, task manager tells me that 1.2GB of the 8GB I have installed is being used. On windows 10 however, this is increased significantly to 2.6GB out of the 8. If I leave my PC on for a couple of hours without opening any programs, the RAM usage slowly goes up until a point where I cannot open any applications and windows closes programs to save memory. When I restart the PC, the memory usage goes back to 2.6GB. I have disabled most of my startup programs, and tried to determine which program is using up most of the memory. Some of the programs using the highest amount of memory are things like skype and raptr. I expected this because it was the same on windows 7, but there are also other programs such as "search" and "system" that are using a significant amount of memory. All my drivers are up to date.

I would appreciate any help,

Thanks

Well if you don't know you probably haven't changed it so it will be default so you will have a paging file

i experienced a similair problem when i rendered avideo in sony vegas my ram slowly went up and crashed

if you keep crashing and dont have a paging file find out how to enable it

how to get to it below

search advanced system settings (in start)

in the advanced tab

open performane settings..

click on advanced tab

under virtual memory

I have changed the paging file to automatic. Is there a specific amount that I should change it to? The RAM usage is still relatively high after leaving the PC on for a few hours. At the moment, 5.1GB is being used, with chrome being the only active application.

how much tabs do you have open at the same time?

Also open up task manager and click on ram in the list so you see which applications use the most ram  (also is it DDR 2 or?)

8GB DDR3 1600Mhz. post-152237-0-57624700-1445121147.pngpost-152237-0-40004900-1445121151.png There is 1 chrome tab open(this forum).

That's not 5.1 GB that's being used

Its just after I restarted PC. When I posted before it was at 5.1

Well we need a screen of that, and not a screen of right after boot where the issue isn't present.
