I will use ASUS VG24QE monitor (144hz, 1ms, 1080p) with DisplayPort connection.

Please leave me some tips to save a few bucks or dodge any faulty equipment.

One question though : Will this build allow me to use my monitor to its full potential and if not can you please tell.

(Yes it's for gaming)

Unlocked i7 with an H97 board? You should replace that i7 with a Xeon 1231 v3 , Downgrade to 8GB of ram and get a better graphics card or other components. Oh yeah , and a better power supply because the CX series is really bad.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X GPU: Nvidia RTX 3080 12GB + Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VIII Hero

Case: Asus ROG Strix Helios Gundam Edition Power Supply: Asus ROG Thor 850P

Thank god you did not buy that PSU.

Do you NEED a i7-4790k? An i5 if this is a gaming rig will be plenty.

For the PSU get a Any seaSonic or XFX psu. Antec High current Gamer, or EVGA B2. The CX has bad capactiors and a low ambient temperature. Not meant for anything more then a mid end office build.

You could get a $90 250GB Samsung 850 Evo and 1TB HDD.

Get a MSI or Sapphire R9 390

Look into a NZXT Elite black for the case.

i7-6700k  Cooling: Deepcool Captain 240EX White GPU: GTX 1080Ti EVGA FTW3 Mobo: AsRock Z170 Extreme4 Case: Phanteks P400s TG Special Black/White PSU: EVGA 850w GQ Ram: 64GB (3200Mhz 16x4 Corsair Vengeance RGB) Storage 1x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 240GBSandisk SSDPlus, 480GB OCZ Trion 150, 1TB Crucial NVMe
(Rest of Specs on Profile)

Are you sure I need a PSU that strong I feel like I'd be using more power than I need.

It is not the amount of wattage that is needed, it is that your PSU now is not really good with mid-high end parts. Also, just because you have a 750w PSU does not mean you are pulling 750Ws from the wall. You will only pull as much power from the wall as your parts need.
