PC Booting/POST Freezing

Go to solution Solved by Kriosasacil,

Nothing changed after I completely cleaned the system of dust and reinstalled all the components, so I went to MicroCenter and picked up the same motherboard and swapped them out and sure enough, my suspicions were correct. My pooter seems to be running fine now, although I don't feel ok about the computer crashing and restarting multiple times while Windows was running so I'm reinstalling as to prevent further issues.

System

CPU

AMD FX-8350 Vishera

Motherboard

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0

RAM

16GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 1866MHz

GPU

4GB EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 SSC

Case

Vengeance C70 (White)

Storage

Crucial M550 256gb, WD Black 2tb

PSU

Corsair RM850

Cooling

Corsair H100i

Keyboard

Logitech G710+

Mouse

Final Mouse 2015

Sound

Logitech G430

Operating System

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Started out I was playing games and the game would start to flicker, eventually the whole system froze (no responce from caps lock) so I had to shut it down. Eventually I got it to boot again, scanned for viruses, did sfc /scannow, nothing. I noticed some programs were not working anymore, so i grabbed my recent documents and threw them on a flash drive so I'm fine with having to reinstall. I got prepared to reinstall and now when I boot (depending on how long I leave it off) it freezes during post/while booting to my windows install flash. I had a similar issue on my other computer so I tried clearing CMOS, that didn't work, then I swapped out CMOS batteries, that didn't work either. While scanning for viruses I didn't see any heat problems on the CPU or the GPU. Tried reseating the graphics card, different PCI slot, reseating the memory, different memory, different monitor, and can't seem to find the issue. I don't have integrated gfx nor do I have access to a spare gfx card that is PCI. Going to get some compressed air to clean out the insides (though they aren't bad since my intakes have filters) and reseat everything. Not quite sure where do go from here. My guess is either some heat issue or a bad mobo.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I appologize for the format, typing this on a mobile device.

It depends how long I leave the system off as to how far I can go. Usually I can get to the BIOS (I've tried loading optimized defaults and I get the same as usual). In it right now, cpu is reporting 30*C and mb is reporting 25*C.

CPU Heatproblems should let you boot to the Desktop at least.

How hot is your PSU?

So no heat issue. And you got the same Problems with different RAM installed? Checked all RAM Slots on the Mainboard?

Are you sure all USB Sticks ect. are pluged off?

Plug all HDD´s except the OS one off too.

Only Keyboard plugged in. Can't get past the BIOS splash screen, haven't tried different RAM slots I'll try that now.

Same deal, If I leave the computer off for a min then I can get to BIOS but if I just restarted it will hang at POST, if I give it a min it'll hang at the starting windows screen. Edited by Kriosasacil
