Trouble in choosing ram

I have an old PC that has Intel i5-2310 processor. Can I add 16 gbs of 1600Mz DDR3 ram into the system. Thanks in advance to you guys

if your board supports it, i don't see any problem with installing 16gbs of ram  (on most atx size boards you should be fine if you want more than 2 sticks for whatever reason e.g. 4 x 4 gbs)

What OS do you use?

It mostly depends on your motherboard, and you must have a 64bit OS to take advantage of all that ram.
