Hey there,

My name is Luuk, and I am an indie game developer. I recently bought/made a new PC, and I'm very happy with it. But just out of curiosity, what's the average GPU other (indie) game developers use.

I'm on the programming side of game development, and I mostly program 3D games, using engines like Unity3D, Unreal, and other engines.

Great regards,

Luuk

You wouldnt need anything too powerful. Depending on the program, usually they are more CPU based than GPU based.

My Rigs:

Gaming/CAD/Rendering Rig
Case:
 Corsair Air 240 , CPU: i7-4790K, Mobo: ASUS Gryphon Z97 mATX,  GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970, RAM: G.Skill Sniper 16GB, SSD: SAMSUNG 1TB 840 EVO, Cooling: Corsair H80i PCPP: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/b/f2TH99SFF HTPC

Well, for rendering real-time in game, it can be extremely intensive (Unity) especially if you don't do well optimized lighting, you could end up having your fan RPM go 0-100 real quick.

I used a GTX970 SC+ACX 2.0 from EVGA, although I stopped game development because of a few reasons, Lack of time, Lack of resources and knowledge

edit

And my system getting put under extensive, unrealistic CPU load. GPU not so much.

I would go for a quadro k2000. It's a bit overpowered, but it is designed for things like editing and game/software developement. I use these in editing workstations that make models for games like fifa and gta.

My native language is C++
