Isolating vibrations from fans

Hey guys,

 

So simple question, when you "isolate" a fan with say a neoprene or rubber gasket or little rubber rings between the fan and the case/radiator, don't the screws touching the fan still transfer quite a lot of vibrations to the case anyway?

So if you want to completely isolate a fan would you actually have to isolate the fan from the case/rad as well as the screw?

That's why some fans come with rubber mounts, basically a rubber 'screw' which isolates vibrations. (Noctua and others have these)

mostly what the rubber does is create a "tight bond" to stop both sides from vibrating against each other.
