File Sharing Methods

How do you guys like to share files like movies, tv shows, pictures, documents over LAN and or internet?

 

Do you guys use DLNA protocol, FTP, Plex, windows shares, etc. do you use a NAS or just your main computer when you need to stream something? Or maybe you use a HTPC? What OS do you use on your HTPC? Pi, Windows, Freenas, Linux???

 

Please fire away your complete setup, I'm still undecided about which of the above methods I should use...

Plex, stick it on the server, send it out to everything, simples, and works over the internet too

If i share files on lan usually i just share them through windows shares and if i would have a htpc i would use windows
